under the bed

I go into my room to get a board game to play with my family. I grabbed the board game and took it out to the living room. My sister and I unboxed and then I noticed that the small bag that had the pieces in were not there, then my sister ran down the hall to my bedroom and dropped down on her knees and looked under my bed, she couldn't see it so i grabbed her hair and pulled her away then I looked and I found it and as soon as I said “found it” she was there waiting for me to get up so I put the bag on my dresser and then we got into a huge scrap and of course I won like always. I went back into the living room and I opened the bag and we got the pieces out and we played a good game. My mum won and she was so happy because whenever she plays a board game with my sibling she always loses. My family is so competitive.

Carbon

Did you know that carbon is one of the most important elements that makes our planet. This element can be dangerous but can also be good. Carbon can be a solid, gas and a liquid. This special element can be in living and nonliving things. Did you know that our bodies all have carbon in them? Decaying leaf matter (Humus) is 70% carbon. Also did you know that our earth is made out of 118 elements. Carbon is used to make coral and shellfish, then gets turned into limestone after a while.

What is carbon dioxide (co2)

Carbon dioxide is an important gas. It traps heat in our atmosphere, stopping us from freezing to death. Carbon dioxide is what we breathe out after we breathe in oxygen. Co2 gets created when you burn fossil fuels, also when you burn fossil fuels it creates global warming, which i’ll explain later.This element (co2) is known as a greenhouse gas which means it can ‘trap’ and retain heat. Plants need carbon dioxide to live. They breathe it in through their leaves and then with sunlight they make oxygen which is called photosynthesis.

   

Global Warming

 Excess carbon gets trapped in the atmosphere. 

When you burn fossil fuels it causes global warming, global climate change. Global warming expands land and water. It also makes ice sheets melt in really cold places around the world. These large amounts of melted ice turns into water that flows into streams, rivers, lakes and seas. This means that our water levels are increasing which is causing major floods. 

How do we prevent global warming?

The way we can prevent global warming is to stop burning fossil fuels. If we all stand up and stop doing things that create global warming then it can hopefully stop.

Problem What is the problem within the story? How are the characters feeling?	I get my head stuck in a chair in geometry class because i was trying to be funny and making my head stuck when the teacher was writing on the chalkboard i thought i would just be in and out but i got stuck

Ending How does the story end? Will it end happily?  Is there a twist to the plot? How are the characters feeling?	My mum gets called and i get a hiding

“Good morning Mum,” I said while walking down the stairs.

“Good morning son,” She replied from the kitchen.

Mum was cooking pancakes, I heard her put a new batch in the frying pan. 

“How many pancakes do you want, Caden?😍” Mum said.

“Can I have four please because I have to miss out on morning tea today because I’m going to the dentist at school,” I replied like my mum didn’t know I was going to the dentist.

“Yeah, that's fine.”

Mum gave me four pancakes, and I ate them all.

10 Minutes later

“Bye Mum I’m going to school.”

“Bye Caden, have a good day,” Mum replied while I was walking outside the door.

I walked to the bus stop and waited for the bus. I sat down on the bench and listened to music on my iPod. I played my favorite song.

When the bus arrived 

The bus arrived and I saw my best friend sitting in our usual spot. I walked in the bus, tagged my hop card then went to sit next to my best friend.  

When we arrived at school, the first class we had was geometry. Geometry class is my favorite class because my crush is in that class, this girl called Ava.

When my teacher was writing on the chalkboard I made Ava laugh because I sat next to her. The way I made her laugh was by putting my head in this little hole and when I did that I tried to pull my head out and it didn’t move a pinch I got scared so what did I do I grabbed my bag saw lip balm and rubbed it all over my neck Mrs. Gibbles saw the chair around my neck so she called the caretaker to bring a bladed knife to cut me free. Then the principal came to see me. She asked if I was alright and then called my mum. My mum wasn’t too fused because she knew that I would get out even if she had to get me out. 

When I finally got free from the chair, I could go to my dentist's appointment. 

30 Minutes later

After my dentist appointment, I could go back to class. The next class I had was English. I enjoyed English because I just liked English. 

A long time later   

It was finally over, a long day of boredom. The only fun thing about that was making Ava laugh and getting my head stuck in a chair.

When I got home

My mum was waiting at the dining room table and as soon as I said “hi” she started to laugh because you know the principal called her and said I got my head stuck in a chair, and that's exactly why I like my mum.

“Where’s. My. Toothbrush?” I screamed.

“Why are you yelling sissy?” My sister asked with a smirk on her face.

“Where’s. My. Toothbrush little girl?” I asked in an irritated voice.

“Sissy, I'm not sure, you should go ask mommy.”

“AHHHHH, you're not any help around this damn house,” I said as angry as I could possibly be.

“MOMMY WHERE’S MY TOOTHBRUSH!” I screamed at my mom.

“Darling, Darling why are you screaming at me?” My mom asked.
“Because I can’t find my toothbrush and I think you stole it to do your

ugly makeup😡.” I said really aggressively.

“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME YOU LITTLE BRAT😡?” Mom replied in shock but also so mad.

“What I said to you mother is that I'm blaming you for stealing my toothbrush for your ugly makeup experiments,” I replied to my grumpy mother.

“HOW DISRESPECTFUL YOUNG LADY. WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT AND TO ME LIKE THAT. HOW STUPID OF YOU, THIS ISN’T YOUR HOUSE, SO THESE AREN’T YOUR RULES EITHER,” My mother said.

“WELL OLD LADY, I’M TELLING THE TRUTH YOUR MAKEUP EXPERIMENTS MAKE YOU LOOK UGLY, DON’T COME AT ME FOR TELLING THE TRUTH PEOPLE ALWAYS TELL ME TO TELL THE TRUTH SO YOU CAN’T COME AT ME,” I said.

When I said that I was in shock myself because I’ve never said something like that to my mom before.

  

We then stood in silence for a few seconds.

All of a sudden I ran down the hallway out of my parent's room, running to my sister's room but then I stopped… 

The door of her room was closed, I go bulging in but I couldn’t get my body in, there was my sister holding the door shut.

“Oiii let me in or I’ll tell mommy!” I said while waiting for her to open the door.

“Yea I will sissy just wait I need to do something don't come in,  just wait.”

“Sure,”  I said while rolling my eyes

 The Day Things Began to Disappear

Sunday night July 4th 2001

We were having a birthday dinner party for my dad, my whole family came to town to celebrate his 40th. It was a huge blast until after dinner I couldn’t find my drink. I had a Red Bull with Vodka. I was only 17 but since it was a big night for my dad he let me drink.

1 hour later

“Hey Dad, can I let my friends come over because  they want to come and have some fun with us?” I asked him really nicely.

“Sure my darling they can come over and did you find your drink?” he said to me.

“Yea it was in the bathroom and please don’t ask me why it was in there. I think someone might have thought it was their drink or I don’t know,” I said while answering his question.

I go up stairs to call my friends to tell them to come over!

When they all arrive I say “hey guys wanna anything to drink and my dad is over in the carport with his mates and my mom.”

“Oh ok that's good, can I have a Vodka and Coke?” Corey asked.

“I’ll just have a Coke please,” Ava asked. 

“Sure anything for you guys, I’ll go show you where my dad and mom are,” I told them.

 We all go outside to see my parents then we only see my mom and my dads mates but where was my dad? 

Then I went and saw that the car was gone. I go back to where my mom was sitting.

“Mom where's dad and my friends are here they will come out soon,” I asked my mom.

“To be honest darling I don’t know where your dad is. Hey boys you know where John went?” My Mom said as she asked his mates. 

But of course they all replied with no.

Then I suddenly hear a car noise. It was our family car pulling into the driveway, there was a man inside it looked like my dad. I ran over to the car and opened the driver's door and it was my dad, he only went to buy more beers.

“Dad, where were you? I was looking for you because my friends want to say hi,” I told my dad bit by bit.

My friends come outside and say Hi and happy birthday to my dad while he was getting 10 more boxes of beers out of the car.

After all that trouble we all enjoyed our night.

The weird Midnight sky

 Suddenly, darkness enveloped the room, weighted with the pitch blackness of the midnight sky. I was getting scared, it wasn’t even 7:00 o'clock. 

I ran downstairs to my mom's room. She told me not to worry and said to me, “ just go watch a movie in bed”.  

Sometime during the movie, I fell asleep. While I was sleeping I had a bad dream where someone came to my house and robbed it.  All of a sudden I woke up to my mum shaking me, she said “ are you alright my baby I heard you screaming so I came up to see if you're alright! Also was it your movie and what was your dream about?”  

“Ahhhh? I’m ok” I said in a sudden voice, “ Umm my dream was about someone coming into the house and robbing it I got so scared because you know when I came to you it was only pitch black because I had my eyes and curtains closed. By the way, I'm sorry mum.”

“It's ok! You're so funny,” My mum said to me.

After this whole day happened we just went downstairs and played family games

I put my socks, knee pads, pants, and shirt on. I go and see if my mates are here yet, I see one of my mates, we chat and wait for the others to arrive. 

The second race done now this place smells like gas.  

Going out for the last race of the day, oops I go down and eat dirt, I just back up and go for the dub, I managed to get back fast enough where I could win the race, the last lap comes around I try to pass the guy in first so I can get the win.

We exit the track and go to our cars.

That's the end of our day
